BOOK APPOINTMENTWhat is IV Therapy?
IV therapy is a medical treatment that involves the delivery of fluids directly into the bloodstream via a catheter. The fluids can contain a variety of nutrients, medications, vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes. The infusion allows for the safe and effective delivery of these substances into the body, as they maintain their potency and bypass the digestive system.
How Does IV Therapy Work?
IV therapy works by steadily delivering the fluids into the vein through a catheter. Unlike nutrients and medications taken orally, IV fluids are absorbed immediately and maintain their efficacy. This eliminates unwanted gastrointestinal side effects like vomiting and diarrhea that can occur with food and oral supplements.
What does IV Consist of?
The contents of an IV bag are tailored to the individual needs of the patient. Saline is a common component of most fluid bags as it promotes fast hydration and pairs well with other substances. Vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants can improve immune function, boost energy levels, and enhance athletic performance. Electrolytes, essential minerals for maintaining fluid levels and regulating muscle contractions, are also commonly included.
IV therapy provides a fast and effective way to deliver nutrients and medications directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system and avoiding unwanted side effects. It is a customizable treatment option that can be tailored to meet individual needs.
