Gallstones? Don’t Ignore the Signs

Gallstones can be incredibly painful and often go unnoticed until symptoms become severe. If you’re experiencing abdominal pain, nausea, or digestive issues, it might be time to get checked.
Gallstones are hardened deposits of digestive fluid that can form in your gallbladder, a small organ beneath your liver that releases bile into your small intestine. When you eat, your gallbladder contracts and releases bile to aid in digestion. Gallstones can be as small as a grain of sand, or as large as a golf ball.
If you don’t experience any symptoms from your gallstones, you typically don’t need treatment. However, if you experience significant symptoms, you may require gallbladder removal surgery. Symptoms occur when a gallstone lodges in a duct and causes a blockage, and may include sudden and rapidly intensifying pain in your abdomen, back, or right shoulder, plus nausea and vomiting. Seek immediate care if the pain is so intense that you can’t find a comfortable position to sit.
At David Song GI, we specialize in diagnosing and treating gallstones to help you get back to feeling your best. Don’t wait until the discomfort worsens—early detection and treatment can make all the difference.
